Maritime music studio has everything a musician could want. Jake is a great recording engineer and music teacher. I have rehearsed countless times at his studio and can say it is really a great place to play music. My experience with taking lessons with Jake is that he is extremely knowledgeable, can convey what he is teaching very well, and even encourages creativity within the learning process. This was all very helpful for me in deepening my understanding and playing. Looking to record, rehearse, or learn? Maritime Music Studio is the right place.

As an older student, my guitar needs may be different than kids just starting out. Jake completely understood my goals and skills, and adapted his teaching style to exactly what I needed. No doubt there are thousands of solid teachers who can go through the basics and teach covers. If, however, you're interested in actually understanding the music and how various guitar techniques can create unique style and sound, he's the instructor for you.

Jake can take you wherever you want to go on the guitar. He is an experienced performer, and so can help you develop your own musicality. He is fluent in many genres including punk, gospel, jazz, rock, reggae and blues. If you are interested in music theory, he can make it accessible, understandable and useful. He is passionate about music education, and that comes through in each and every lesson.

I've worked with Jake at Maritime Music Studio on several occasions. Sometimes we would co-create a score for a film project I was working on and other times we would lay tracks for a record. Every time I'm there I feel a sense of immense creative energy. Jake has organized his studio in such a way that as ideas are forming they are already being professionally recorded. With that kind of immediacy, all inspiration automatically comes to be a master creation. I appreciate Jake very much, first as a dear friend, second as a mentor and third as a creative partner.
